August Job Fair
The HSSM will hold a job fair Saturday, August 15th from 8:00a.m. to noon to fill the following positions:
Full-time Sales Associate $8.00/hr
Greet customers entering facility or assigned area, process customer transactions, process deliveries and stock merchandise, organize and clean ReTail/Thrift Store area, answer phones, maintain presence in assigned area or station.
Must be 18 or older; be able to lift 25lbs.; able to stand, bend and perform duties as assigned, knowledge of animal breeds and behavior required, basic computer skills in MS Office and internet required, able to deal with difficult situations.
Full-time Adoption Counselor $8.50/hr
Current knowledge of animals in facility, assist potential adopters by matching animals and owners, learn and become proficient in ASPCA Meet Your Match Adoption Program, enter correct adoption data in computer, clean and maintain animal holding and adoption mall areas, process return of adopted animals.
Must be 18 or older, ability to read and write English required; able to lift 50lbs; able to stand, bend and perform duties as assigned, customer service experience required, able to work weekends. Knowledge of animal breeds and behavior helpful.
Full-time Merchandising Coordinator $9.50/hr
Responsible for the daily operation of the ReTail/Thrift Store, schedule employees, coordinates and manages retail/thrift area, work closely with the manager, process customer transactions, research and identify vendors and products, process deliveries and stock merchandise, assist with retail/thrift store operation
Must be 18 or older; able to lift 50lbs; able to stand, bend and perform duties as assigned; basic computer skills in MS Office and Internet required; excellent communication and leadership skills; knowledge of animal breeds and behavior required.
Full-time Kennel Technician $7.50/hr
Responsible for daily cleaning and sanitation of animal areas and passageways and the daily feeding and care of shelter animals.
Must be 18 or older; able to lift 50 lbs.; able to stand, bend and perform duties as assigned. A team player, able to work in a fast paced environment. Knowledge of animal breeds and behavior helpful. Able to make decisions regarding the welfare of animals. Able to work weekends. Ability to read and write English required. Customer service experience helpful. Animal welfare experience preferred but not required. Basic computer skills in a Windows environment preferred.
Full-time Veterinary Technician $9.00/hr
Primarily responsible for administration of pre-anesthetics and anesthetics to animals prior to spay/neuter. Perform induction, intubation, and prep of dogs and cats for surgery. Assist the public during the intake and discharge process; assist veterinarian with cursory exams at intake.
Must be 18 or older, able to lift 50lbs., stand and bend for entire work shifts. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter environment is beneficial. Knowledge of animal care, behavior and handling is preferred. This job is physically and sometimes emotionally demanding.
Interested associates need to have completed the 90 day probation period, and obtain their manager’s approval before submitting internal posting forms to the Human Resource Department. Employees under disciplinary action are not eligible for transfer. Employees may not tranfer more than once in a 12 month period.
