To Get My Pet Fixed…
How do I get my pet spayed or neutered? Download the instructions here
Step 1: Contact the Snippity Meow-Bow-Wow Spay-Neuter Clinic at 228-863-8610 to set an appointment. Make a note of your surgery date! For your convenience, clinic staff can complete your admissions form over the phone. To make the process go smoothly, you can download a sample admissions form so that you’ll know what information the clinic will request from you.
Step 2: BEFORE the day of surgery, read & follow these guidelines:
1) Your pet must have nothing to eat after Midnight the evening before the surgery. Water is ok. It is VERY dangerous to your animal’s health to feed them before surgery (under anesthesia, the animal may vomit and then inhale the contents of his or her stomach, which can be fatal. An empty stomach eliminates this risk!)
2) Outside pets should be brought inside the night before surgery to prevent them from “scavenging” for food. A crate may be helpful for preventing accidents with pets that aren’t housebroken.
3) Please ensure your animal is clean and free of fleas and ticks.
4) Tell clinic staff if your animal shows any sign of sickness. You may need to reschedule or we may send them home.
5) All dogs should be on a leash. Please muzzle aggressive dogs.
6) Each cat should be in its own carrier at the time of drop off and pick up.
We may refuse surgery to any animal. Reasons for refusal may be but are not limited to:
1. Animals that are known to have been fed after midnight the evening before surgery.
2. Aggressive animals that are not muzzled or animals sill deemed too aggressive after being muzzled
3. Animals that are extremely unclean or flea/tick infested.
4. Animals with known health issues, such as a heart murmur.
5. Animals determined by our veterinarians to be older than 5 years old without bloodwork (CBC and Chemistry Panel).
If any of these situations apply to your animal, please discuss this with a clinic associate when making your appointment. We may be able to make special arrangements if we know the issue in advance. This is for the safety of your animals and our staff.
There is a boarding charge of $10.00 for animals not picked up by 8:00 am the day after surgery (or 4:00 pm Friday for Friday surgeries)
