Volume 12: April 2011
Pet of the Month: Lisa
Lisa is a beautiful, intelligent 3-year-old American Blue Heeler who has had a rough life so far. She was obviously mistreated in the past and is slow to get to know you, but once you’ve gained her trust—you’ve gained it for life! she has been at HSSM for a VERY long time and has bonded closely with several staff members and volunteers…but she needs a permanent home to call her own! Lisa is heartworm positive, but HSSM’s Have-A-Heart Program will cover the Immiticide (the medicine used to treat heartworms), which is generally the bulk of the heartworm treatment expense. I’m sure Lisa could be taught anything you could possibly want to teach a dog, she just needs chance!
